Exam tomorrow — your weak spots first

Chapters 1–2. Tap a trouble spot for its rule card, worked examples and practice, or follow the path below.

  1. 1Permutation or combination?Swap test: does swapping two picks make a new outcome? Then multiply within a case and add across cases; divide by r₁! r₂! for repeats.
  2. 2Quartiles & outlier limitsLeave the median OUT of both halves when n is odd, then fences = Q1 − 1.5·IQR and Q3 + 1.5·IQR.
  3. 3"And" vs "given" in a table"AND" = one cell ÷ grand total; "GIVEN A" = that cell ÷ A's total only.
  4. 4Subtract the overlapNot mutually exclusive → subtract the overlap exactly once.
  5. 5binomcdf lower / upperTurn the words into lower/upper first: at least k → k to n, more than k → k + 1 to n, less than k → 0 to k − 1.
